Hmmm....
I have been running php4 beta 2 since it came out on Solaris without trouble
(well... almost trouble free... there's an xmlrpc bug/missing feature that I
believe is already fixed in cvs). When compiling I did occasionally run
into trouble of a similar nature to that described below.
However, that was usually after running configure and make several times in
an attempt to get things just right. Blowing everything away and starting
from scratch almost always solved the problem. In fact, I do that so often
(since I include a lot of the extension in php... sometimes even mod perl),
I just wrote my on makefiles to build php (extract the sets, do the
configure, run the make).

Subject: [PHP4BETA] Installing PHP4.0-beta2 on Solaris 2.6
Hello,
A few days ago I posted a question to this mailing list concerning
the difficulty I'm having compiling PHP4.0-B2 under Solaris 2.6, but
I haven't had even a single response. I'm wondering if I posted the
message correctly. Did anyone out there see the posting? If so, has
anyone *successfully* compiled PHP4.0-B2 under Solaris 2.6?
My earlier posting was:
----------------
Hello,
I'm having trouble 'making' PHP under Solaris. With a do-conf file
containing:
./configure --with-gd=no --with-gettext=no --with-oracle=/usr/oracle --enabl
e-sh
ort-tags=no --bindir=/opt/php/bin
I get the following 'make install' error messages:
if test "" != ""; then \
for dir in X ; do \
test -d ext/$dir && (cd ext/$dir; /usr/ccs/bin/make install); \
done; \
fi
Making all in libzend
make: Fatal error: Don't know how to make target `all'
Current working directory /opt/php/php-4.0b2/libzend
Making all in ext
Making all in db
sh: db: does not exist
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `all-recursive'
Current working directory /opt/php/php-4.0b2/ext
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `all-recursive'
-----------------------------
I noticed one probably grievous problem: directory
/opt/php/php-4.0b2/libzend
doesn't have a 'Makefile', only files 'Makefile.am and .in. No wonder
the top-level 'Makefile' couldn't make target 'all'.
Would anyone know what's wrong here?
Thanks,
