Even with the correct path to notepad the same error is displayed. I have simplified things and have copied notepad.exe to the root of the c: drive and then used: system("c:\\notepad.exe"); and I still get the message of Warning: Unable to fork [notepad.exe] In the real project I do am not trying to invoke notepad, but I figured that notepad would be an easy test. Does the paths and directories section of the php.ini have help provide any solution? I just made the following change: extension_dir = "C:\" ;./ ; directory in which the loadable extensions (modules) reside that did not work so I then added another \ and it did not work either. extension_dir = "C:\\" ;./ ; directory in which the loadable extensions (modules) reside Any more suggestions would be appreciated.
