As you can see from the above output, libmysqlclient believes that it is located at /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock. PHP's .configure routine must be getting the location for MYSQL_UNIX_ADDR a/k/a --with-unix-socket-path=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock from another location. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but MySQL is working correctly, it's PHP that isn't. As before, I'm open to any suggestion that can help resolve this problem.
