I remeber having the same problem with RH 6.0 at home, here I have RH 5.2. I can't remember what the solution was, but the reason is that a test run with cc failed (probably caused by the EXTRA_LIBS). Unfortunately you don't get the compilation ouput. I fixed it by looking at the helper script that does this testcompile, but I can't remember what it was and I don't have my RH 6 configure scipts here. Did you do a "make distclean" before the first configure of Apache ? When I am at home tonight I can look it up for you (still some 8 hours away I am afraid).
