Not me.
For the function names : since you are "translating" characters or strings,
how about
get_translation_table() or get_html_translation_table()
perhaps a set_translation_table() or set_html_translation_table()
and
translate_chars() or str_translate() ?
Perhaps I am biased here having used the IBM 360 "tr" and "trt" (translate,
translate and test) assembler instructions too much when you all were still
wearing nappies...
