Compiling PHP4 into Apache and as Standalone executable.

I was just wondering if anyone has tried to compile PHP4 into Apache and as a standalone executable
for shell scripting and such. If so were there any conflicts between the two installations or do
the PHP scripts automatically use the PHP that was compiled into Apache?
