Hi guys,
just found out about your redesign of PHP.net. First of all: my compliments! I think it is both daring & subtle, exactly what a redesign should be like. I like it! And that's from someone who has been looking at your old design since the days of PHP3, so since 199...7? I do have a few minor points though:
1. The language selector at the top doesn't look right. I've modified the CSS a bit. My patch - from theme.css, line 132:
change
#headsearch-keywords, #changelang-langs {
background: none repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;
color: #666666;
}
into
#headsearch-keywords, #changelang-langs {
background: none repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;
color: #666666;
border: 1px solid #C3ADD9;
margin-left: 4px;
}
Basically, it adds a small one-pixel border and applies a small margin to the left of the box. The end result is that it looks a bit lighter, more in line with the rest of the page.
2. I like the expanding top menus, but I'm not sure they should move the body contents down (it's slow, especially the redrawing of a large page). Perhaps just make them overlap the body contents?
Anyway, good job! Hope you put it online soon.
All the best,
Edward
