Edit report at http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=49368&edit=1 ID: 49368 Comment by: contactdavid78 at gmail dot com Reported by: alvaro at demogracia dot com Summary: Windows download page lacks information about thread safety Status: Assigned Type: Bug Package: Website problem PHP Version: Irrelevant Assigned To: pajoye Block user comment: N Private report: N New Comment: Apache 2.2 only works with the thread-safe version. This is not mentioned anywhere on the web page :-(( I lost 30 minutes figuring out what was wrong, as Apache's error message doesn't really point in this direction. Previous Comments: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2009-12-02 20:49:07] chimel31 at live dot fr Please document ASAP what "thread safe" and "non thread safe" means on the Windows download page, I have no clue which package I should choose. Anything with the word "safe" in it surely should have top priority for bug resolution, but this easy to solve bug is not moving! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2009-08-26 07:23:19] alvaro at demogracia dot com Description: ------------ The new "PHP For Windows" download page offers "Thread Safe" and "Non Thread Safe" binaries but it doesn't provide any information to make a choice. Expected result: ---------------- Thread safety is a technical term that's likely to be unknown by most PHP developers. There should be a brief explanation about its meaning and consequences so the user is able to download the appropriate binary. Actual result: -------------- The left column contains a detailed explanation about VC6 vs VC9 versions but there's no mention to thread safety. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Edit this bug report at http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=49368&edit=1
