I think that is heckofalotmore then we need. The OE will be moved to http://edit.php.net/manual and then sometime in the future master.php.net/manage/ will move to edit.php.net/mirrors and edit.php.net/profile maybe.. Current "news system" is a an atom file committed to phpweb/archive/entries/date.xml. phpweb/archive/archive.xml is then parsed on rsync by master/scripts/update-backend (pregen_news) and generates an array of news entries. print_news() (phpweb/include/layout.inc) then iterates over the entires printing out the proper category ('frontpage'/'conference'/'cfp').. Mirrors cannot run databases or fetch external content, at most they could use a sqlite database but I think that would cause unnecessary rsync load.. -Hannes
