I don't think that is a good idea.
If one of the mirrors simply sux, or you disagree with their treatment
of cats, you still should have the option of selecting your preferred
XXY mirror..

Most links from search engines are without a xxx prefix as we set our
canonical url without it.
I think actually browsers are even overwriting addressbar copying with
the shorturl (or maybe that was just extensions?).
