Why would that defeat the purpose and how does it contradict it? We experience on daily basis bunch of times that people want to specifically switch to a different mirror near them, because the mirror selected for them is also hosting the latest firefox release and using 110% of its bandwidth which everyone is downloading, or what any number of reasons don't want to use that specific mirror. Heck, the other mirror could even be hosted in the same building and therefore being insanely much faster then others. Removing that choice isn't what I was suggesting. I was suggesting of adding a new choice - for users who don't care - just want a mirror in their country - got used to typing http://jm.php.net which now no longer exist, only jm2 does now - a consistent redirect logic rather then needing to more work to pick a mirror -Hannes
