Dear PHP, If you had told me 2 1/2 years ago, when I first started studying web page coding after getting my first computer in February of 2006, that I would not only understand most of the "simplexml" tutorial on your website, but that I would have the ability to write to you with a suggestion for relieving the overlapping long "links" on the left side of several of your web pages, like this one, [ http://www.php.net/manual/en/simplexmlelement.addAttribute.php] ....I wouldn't have believed you! But, such is now the case! And, here is my suggestion for the "overlapping" problem: On the "simplexmlelement.addAttribute.php" thru "simplexmlelement.registerXPathNamespace.php" pages, loose the "spam" tag 'class="w"' reference within the "simplexmlelement.getDocNamespaces.php, "simplexmlelement.getNamespaces.php" and "simplexmlelement.registerXPathNamespace.php" list-item "anchor" tags; and, change the following CSS rules in the external "site.css" file: ul.toc li { // font-size: 85%; font-size: 75%; // reduce 'font-size' to 75% margin: 1px 0 1px 1px; margin: 1px 0 5px 1px; // increase the 'margin-bottom' value to 5px padding: 1px 0 1px 11px; list-style-type: none; background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: center left; } ul.toc li.active { // font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline; // change highlighting of the "active" link from 'font-weight: bold;' to 'text-decoration: underline;' } It's not a perfect solution, but at least the text to the right of the links won't be obscured: .. I hope that my suggestion has in some small way contributed to the advancement of the PHP server-side language. Sincerely, Brian Jones
