browscap.ini doesn't work in v 4.0.1PL2

I use a browscap file from http://asptracker.com/
It works fine with PHP 3.0.16 but doesn't with PHP 4.0.1PL2.
I use a Win98 / Apache1.3.11 server.
I only put in the PHP.INI file the lines
[browscap]
browscap = f:\php4\browscap.txt
(there's the same lines in the correct PHP3.INI)
And the server loops and generate no php page (even if the script doesn't
use the get_browser() function.
What can I do ?
