I have the same problem using Win98, PWS. I have the root as read, execute, scripts all checked still I get 500 server error. I did get it to work by creating the extension .phtml in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. This then points to the 'phpfile' key that you have previously set up for the .php extension? in HKCR. phpfile - shell - open -command - c:\path\to\php.exe %1 Also in HKLM the registry setting for .php and .phtml should point to "c:\path\to\php.exe" %s"" %s"" Rename anything with a .php extension to .phtml and off you go. Not exactly sure what is going on myself. You may want to also check your php.ini file to make sure that the paths and directories are all pointing to the right place.
