A major problem is that the previous page that one was
not supposed to review still is active in the other window.
Secondly spawning can always be prevented by tools that removes
"annoying" behavior like window spawning, and the server has
no control of this kind of event.
Anyhow, when it comes to the original question, I think the problem
is attacked in an improper way. The reason why you would like to
clear these button can be solved in other sufficient (read secure)
ways.
Clearing these buttons means that the client suddenly become the
agent for of the action, and once the server allows this, it loses
all control of the events. Hence is certain behavior can't be
guaranteed to happen.
My recommendation is that you look for a server solution instead.
If you do so you will always gain the bonus of the end user not
being annoyed of having his button cleared out - because they will
be annoyed about this. Be sure about that.

P.S.
Design tips: One should always be very restrictive with implementing
behavior in the UI that gives the end user a feeling of being out of
control. If feasible, always give the user the optimal, as opposed to
maximal (or minimal), ability to chose.
