Ive personally never used the environment vars in Apache but im sure i just
put the orawin95\bin or ora81\bin dir in my path. This works for Apache &
IIS & PWS on 95 & 98 & NT4.
If you're interested i can confirm my setup on an NT box with the php4win.de
binaries and IIS and Apache. I have such a box at home :)
Also i only use the PHP CGI so this may have some bearing.

1) Install Oracle client 8.1.6 on web server and configure database instance
within Net8 Assistant AND make sure that oracle bin directory is in your
system
path.
2) Use/Install PHP4.0.2 from www.php4win.de which includes the oracle 8i
extension (php_oci8.dll).
3) Make a couple tweaks to your Apache 1.3.12 httpd.conf to include
ORACLE_HOME
and TNSADMIN environment variables...
That's a quick overview, but some of us are working on an
"Oracle8/Php4/Apache"
how-to which will be out soon. Drop me a line in a few days to check on the
progress :)
And, of course, as you're going through the installation/configuration
process,
drop me or the list a line with questions/issues.
