You can attach to an Oracle 7.x database server, but only using the Oracle
8.1.6 (8i) client. In order for the oci calls to work, you must have Oracle
Client 8.1.6 running on the web server. It won't care from that point on what
database server you're accessing, only that the client software is 8i, as the
php_oci8 extension is built specifically for 8.1.6.
