As the resident "Oracle Nut", I'll sound off on this one :) You'll need to get a copy of php4 which INCLUDES the php_oci8 extension. The *best* around is downloadable from http://www.php4win.de. I recommend getting the 8-31 build of 4.0.2 production release (non-devel) - as this is guarenteed to be the most "stable" code currently (4.0.3 is still in devel). Note - you MUST install the php.exe and other files from this build, not simply add the php_oci8.dll to you existing installation - these extensions are compiled for specific versions of php4. Once you have this version downloaded & unzipped, follow the regular install directions (I recommend running in Apache module mode - server api php4apache.dll included in this build) - see install notes on getting module mode additions to your apache httpd.conf. It's best to load php4 and apache together first without any extensions, and once you have them (php4 and apache) talking to each other, then you can worry about the Oracle extension. Note 2 - you MUST have oci8 client installed on the web server - older version of Oracle client will not work with this extension. I recommend the latest 8.1.6 client, as I know it runs reliably. Once you have all this stuff installed, try loading the oci8 extension and we'll take it from there :) -- Andy Hoffman Web Developer Bristol-Myers Squibb email: andy.hoffman@bms.com
