Most stable config. Follow these steps.
1) Insert dos bootable floppy.
2) Type the following command exactly: "format c:\"
3) Put a CD containing the latest version of Linux (my personal favorites
are either Slackware or Redhat).
4) Let it boot off the CD and install Linux.
5) Install the latest version of Apache and PHP.
However, if for some reason, you don't want to install Linux on that
machine, try getting Apache 1.3.12 and install that on NT and then get the
PHP module for apache. That seems to be pretty stable for me. But then
again, I do development with this box so I don't care if crashes
occasionally.
I can't stress enough to NOT use NT as a production web server. DON'T DO
IT! You are letting yourself into a LOT of trouble! :( The reason why
people are not answering your question is that we've learned to NOT run a
production web server off of NT. It can NOT handle the traffic. DO NOT DO
IT!! I did. And it killed the company that I was a part of. :(

If you have a quad processor system with 512MB, then you can serve plenty
connections !
On a single processor machine with 64 MB memory you can do maybe 50 users at
an acceptable rate !
Regards,
Jeroen.
P.S. The server should only do the webserving ! If you need more services on
a single machine, then you're better of using linux which can handle more
services & connection's then NT and is more secure. If you see this as an
alternative, then have a look at TUX !

What is, currently, the most stable and high performance configuration for
PHP/Windows?
CGI is slow ,the ISAPI module is unstable, etc.. Is there really any
win-config that is (inofficially, or not) suitable for high-load commercial
solutions? =)
