The easiest method now for installing PHP on Windows is go to the downloads page at www.php.net and download the Windows installer. This contains all you need to install a cgi version of php with the built in functionality (mysql, calender etc). Just run the installer, follow the on screen instructions, and it will put php on your system, configure your web server (IIS/PWS - sorry - Apache has to be done by hand for now) and setup php.ini.
