Heres a small guide:
1. Download the following packages:
apache 1.3.12 win32 binary from http://www.apache.org
php4.0.2 for win32 [2000-08-30] from http://www.php4win.de
latest mysql win32 binary from http://www.mysql.com
2. create the following directory structure:
+---Intranet
| +---httpd
| | +---modules
| | | \---mod_php4
| +---root
| | \your.domain.here
| \---sqld
3. - Install Apache 1.3.12 into c:\intranet\httpd
- Install MySQL into c:\intranet\sqld
- Extract the All PHP4-Files into
c:\intranet\httpd\modules\mod_php4
--> no subdirectorys there
4. edit php.ini in c:\intranet\httpd\modules\mod_php4
- change the line "extension=php_gd.dll" to
";extension=php_gd.dll"
this module is not so stable ;)
- copy php.ini c:\winnt\system32
5. edit the file c:\intranet\httpd\conf\httpd.conf
- add the line "LoadModule php4_module
modules/mod_php4/php4apache.dll",
after where all the LoadModule entrys are. Warning: the other
modules
are all disabled, leave this ... until your are familiar with
this.
- search and replace "c:/intranet/httpd/htdocs" with
"c:/intranet/root"
- on line 276 +/- 5 Lines you must the following changes:
Options All
AllowOverride All
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
Warning: these are very low security settings ... only for
development
- search for the line with "DirectoryIndex" and change it ...
DirectoryIndex index.html index.php3 index.php4 default.htm
default.html
- serach for line with "x-httpd" and change/append the two lines:
AddType application/x-httpd-php3 .php3
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php4 .php
6. Now setup mysql
- copy c:\intranet\sqld\my-example.cnf c:\my.cnf
- edit the file and change the line "basedir = c:/intranet/sqld/"
7. OK, all files are setup up, now for the services:
I have added two Path to the Path-Enviroment
c:\intranet\httpd\modules and
c:\intranet\httpd\modules\mod_php4
run the cmd.exe
cd intranet\httpd
apache -n Apache -i
cd intranet\sqld\bin
mysqld --install
8. Now you can start the two services!! Juhe
to verify if all is running smoothly create
the file: c:\intranet\root\test.php4
with one line:
<? phpinfo(); ?>
9. open up the browser
enter url: http://localhost/test.php4
Hope the helps ... if here are some errors reply to the list or to my
directly!

Subject: [PHP-WIN] How to install PhP in Windows
Dear Friend,
Hi! In behalf of my groupmates, I would like to seek help
>from you on how to install or where could we find PhP in
Windows. We really are a new PhP users and therefore very
much unaquainted with it.
We have chosen to use PhP as our language because the situation
really requires us to do so.
We are looking forward on the supports that you'll be extending to
us. thank you.......
