Hi All!
My server config (small LAN): Win95/Apache 1.3.12/PHP 4.0.2 (from
php4win.de), database is MS Access 95.
I usually do testing on my own computer (Win98se/etc. just the same as
before).
I recently switched back to Win95 on my computer: fresh install, with
all the "must do" patches and upgrades (Winsock 2, DCom, Common Ctrl,
TCP/IP stack). Now I installed Apache 1.3.14 and PHP 4.0.4-dev
(php4win.de), and just can't solve some crashes.
All my php pages work, but I get constant errors on my computer,
namely PHP crashing. The resulting page is ok (most of the time), but
I still get crashes.
I've tried placing dll's in different places, fiddling with php.ini,
moving it, adding php in the path, and so on, and have been able to
reduce the number and frecuency of the crashes, but sometimes I get to
the point of not knowing what else to do to find the sources of
crashes: Apache logs tell me nothing; I activate php error logging,
but since php is crashing, no error is logged; running scripts in
command-line doesn't say anything else (sometimes it doesn't crash in
command line). So at the end, I'm hunting down crashes driving blind.
Sorry for such a long story, my question is not how to solve my
crashes, but how to trace more deeply the causes of such crashes on a
Win95/98 platform. I know php has a debbuging mode but by the
documentation I'm not really learning how to use it.
Any suggestions, tips, experience, tutorials, links? Thanks a lot!
Gonzalo Vera.
