I've been enjoying using PHP to build some personal and school websites
under Windows 2000, but I'd like to make the process a little more
"seamless".
Right now my website/webpage editor is FP2000 (and yes, I know that many
people feel Dreamweaver is better, but FP came free as part of Office 2K,
and web design isn't that big a part of my business).
My websites are hosted on a linux server, using apache and mysql. I haven't
installed the FP extensions on the apache server, so what I do is develop a
site on my Win2K machine and then publish it to the linux server. This works
fine, except that FP2000 doesn't interpret any of the PHP code. So I end up
publishing, checking the web site in a browser, editing, publishing... you
get the picture.
What I'd like to do is set things up so that the PHP code will be
interpreted under Win2K... but I'm not sure how to do this, and would like
some advice. My thought was that I'd have to install the PHP Windows
binaries (obviously), the MySQL binaries (again, obviously)... but the
installation instructions for the PHP Windows binaries seem to require that
I install PHP as a module under IIS, which I've never installed. So... I'm
confused, and would appreciate any help people might offer.
Thanx in advance!
