Some type of pack/unpack like Andrew Hurley suggested is the easiest way,
I'd wager. I use something similar myself because I have to send a
2-dimensional array. I squash it into one dimension, which PHP handles
seamlessly, then inflate it back into 2 dimensions in the next document.
