Lester Caine:
PDO only supports a single database in a transaction while Firebird ( and Interbase ) support cross database transactions. So we have to use the generic driver a lot of the time anyway. Why also support a badly restricted one? ADOdb will quite happily handle PDO as well as the generic drivers and creates a 'flat field' without many of the restrictions PDO created. Sorry, I can't follow you.You say native driver + AdoDB is better and you can't use PDO in it's current state because of lack of transaction support. So PDO_firebird shouldn't get patches and fixes? If a PHP PDO feature isn't usable or broken it won't be fixed because the driver supports only a subset of features? I do think this attitude will hurt PHP more then lack of maintenance of database drivers, actually users of pdo firebird should decide.
