Bug Type: Session related
Operating System: win2k
PHP Version: 4.2.1
New Comment:
Please take 2 mins to look over this, PHP has been told where to look
for these files but its not listening.
PHP.ini is where it should be and PHP knows where to find it.

That dosn't make sense, I removed my PHP.ini file from C:\winnt and PHP
ceased to work properly.
I put it back and it works fine (apart from this problem).
When I've edited it before the changes have been noticed so it does
know where to find the file.
I could understand it being a config issue apart from the fact that
NOWHERE does it use /tmp
I changed those references, so where is PHP getting this from ?
PHP incorrectly belives my session.store_path is /tmp but I've removed
all references to /tmp and restart my PC more than once (i've also
restarted IIS).
Where is PHP incorrectly getting this info from ?

Sorry, but the bug system is not the appropriate forum for asking
support questions. Your problem does not imply a bug in PHP itself.
For a list of more appropriate places to ask for help using PHP,
please visit http://www.php.net/support.php
Thank you for your interest in PHP.
It's likely that PHP can't find your ini file. See
http://cvs.php.net/co.php/php4/win32/install.txt
for install
instructions.

Simple PHP code (from a WROX book)gives error when trying to use
sessions.
Warning: open(/tmp\sess_3d0b06a40edc759e3bbc38603d5ca596, O_RDWR)
failed: No such file or directory (2) in
c:\inetpub\wwwroot\PAGE_COUNT.php on line 2
I've edited my c:\winnt\php.ini file so the session.save_path is
"c:\php\sessions" but it still thinks its /tmp
No reference to /tmp anywhere that I can see, I've rebooted many times
to no avail.
PHP code is
<?php
session_register("view1count");
session_register("view2count");
session_register("view3count");
session_register("view4count");
?>
<?php
if (!$view1count) $view1count=0;
if (!$view2count) $view2count=0;
if (!$view3count) $view3count=0;
if (!$view4count) $view4count=0;
if (!$whichpage) $whichpage=0;
echo "<html><head><title>Web Page Hit
Counter</title></head><body>";
if ($whichpage) {
echo "<B>You are currently on page $whichpage.</B><BR><BR>\n";
$GLOBALS["view${whichpage}count"]++;
}
for ($i = 1; $i <= 4; $i++) {
if ($whichpage == $i) {
echo "<B><A
HREF=\"$PHP_SELF?".SID."&whichpage=$i\">Page
$i</A></B>";
} else {
echo "<A HREF=\"$PHP_SELF?".SID."&whichpage=$i\">Page
$i</A>";
}
echo ", which you have chosen ".$GLOBALS["view${i}count"]."
times.<BR>\n";
}
echo "\n\n<BR><BR>\n\n";
echo "</BODY></HTML>";
?>
and my session section from c:\winnt\php.ini is
