I have figured out how to solve it, but needs to be updated in the make file. here is my configure string ./configure --enable-inline-optimization --with-mysql -- with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs --with-imap=/usr/ local/imap-2002 --with-imap-ssl --with-gettext=/usr/local - -with-mcrypt --enable-ftp --with-mcal=/usr/local/mcal -- enable-cli ----- upon a issuing make, the last step (linking the cli program) i get this error ----- /bin/sh /var2/php-4.2.2/libtool --silent --mode=link gcc - I. -I/var2/php-4.2.2/sapi/cli -I/var2/php-4.2.2/main -I/ var2/php-4.2.2 -I/usr/local/apache/include -I/var2/php- 4.2.2/Zend -I/usr/local/imap-2002/include -I/usr/local/ mcal/include -I/usr/local/include -I/var2/php-4.2.2/ext/ mysql/libmysql -I/var2/php-4.2.2/ext/xml/expat -DLINUX=22 -DMOD_SSL=208100 -DUSE_HSREGEX -DEAPI -DUSE_EXPAT -I/var2/ php-4.2.2/TSRM -g -O2 -o php -export-dynamic libphp4cli.la /usr/local/imap-2002/lib/libc-client.a(osdep.o): In function `ssl_onceonlyinit': /var2/imap-2002.RC2/c-client/osdep.c:267: the use of tmpnam' is dangerous, better use mkstemp' /var2/imap-2002.RC2/c-client/osdep.c:280: undefined reference to `RAND_seed' /var2/imap-2002.RC2/c-client/osdep.c:285: undefined reference to `SSL_library_init' /usr/local/imap-2002/lib/libc-client.a(osdep.o): In function `ssl_start_work': ....MAny more undefined refs.... -------- Here is how i fixed it cd sapi/cli/ /bin/sh /var2/php-4.2.2/libtool --silent --mode=link gcc - I. -I/var2/php-4.2.2/sapi/cli -I/var2/php-4.2.2/main -I/ var2/php-4.2.2 -I/usr/local/apache/include -I/var2/php- 4.2.2/Zend -I/usr/local/imap-2002/include -I/usr/local/ mcal/include -I/usr/local/include -I/var2/php-4.2.2/ext/ mysql/libmysql -I/var2/php-4.2.2/ext/xml/expat -DLINUX=22 -DMOD_SSL=208100 -DUSE_HSREGEX -DEAPI -DUSE_EXPAT -I/var2/ php-4.2.2/TSRM -g -O2 -o php -export-dynamic libphp4cli.la -lssl -lcrypto -lmcrypt --------- (note the additional libs at the end) this properly linked the cli program and the rest of the install went fine ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Edit this bug report at http://bugs.php.net/?id=18506&edit=1
