Previous Comments: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2015-06-09 18:28:47] cmb@php.net Time flies, and there are no more Windows installers (.msi) delivered anymore; therefore I'm changing the package to configuration issues. Anyhow, as of PHP 5.3 the MySQL Native Driver is enabled by default on Windows. As I understand it, this is done because mysqlnd can't be built as DLL, so enabling/disabling it requires building of PHP. Many developers require the driver, so it makes sense to enable it by default. For those who don't, the overhead seems to be bearable. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2008-06-19 15:27:21] lester at lsces dot co dot uk Description: ------------ It was understood that mysqlnd would not be enabled by default in 5.3. As far as I am aware it is only required if MySQL is being used and many sites nowadays use many of the other alternatives, so enabling a third database should not be forced on us. SQLite is the built in default and a second database should be our own choice. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Edit this bug report at https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=45317&edit=1
