Bug Type: *Compile Issues
Operating System: Linux, Redhat 9
PHP Version: 4.3.2RC3
New Comment:
Sorry, read the report too quickly.
Try removing a lot of the weird esoteric configure options; we don't
have any layouts, nor program prefixes, you shouldn't need to specify
hosts or targets or cache files or any weird linker/pic/rpath options.

Try without the weird '--host=i386-redhat-linux'
'--build=i386-redhat-linux'
'--target=i386-redhat-linux-gnu' and --with-cache-file options, you
definitely don't need those.

Don't run buildconf in a release package.

Configure gives error:
configure: error: config-file-path: invalid package name
Buildconf does not help:
./buildconf
using default Zend directory
buildconf: checking installation...
buildconf: autoconf version 2.57 (ok)
buildconf: Your version of autoconf likely contains buggy cache
code.
Running cvsclean for you.
To avoid this, install autoconf-2.13 and automake-1.5.
buildconf: automake version 1.6.3 (ok)
buildconf: libtool version 1.4.3 (ok)
[root@server php-4.3.2RC3]# [root@server php-4.3.2RC3]#
./conf.php.eko
configure: error: config-file-path: invalid package name
With autoconf 2-13-ga it is not better:
using default Zend directory
buildconf: checking installation...
buildconf: autoconf version 2.13 (ok)
build/buildcheck.sh: line 64: test: 5) 1: integer expression
expected
buildconf: automake version 1.5) 1.5 (ok)
buildconf: libtool version 1.4.3 (ok)
PHP 4.3.1 compiles, but make install does not work, may be
because of shtool 1.6.2 (ftp.gnu.org) also cannot install under
RedHat 9.
My configure script is (as default to Redhat 9 install, output of
phpinfo()):
