not quite. stddef.h is included with gcc and will appear somewhere like /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-linux/2.95.4/include/stddef.h or /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/egcs-2.91.66/include/stddef.h (do a 'locate stddef.h' on a linux box to find it.) linux/stddef.h is just a little stub header used by the kernel. it is distinct from <stddef.h>.
