Two things --
1) This *was* addressed when he announced his intentions, people had
problems with it then, and obviously people still do. It was left
unresolved at that point.
2) If I had a nickle for every time someone (including myself),
proposed a change without a patch, we spent (wasted) hours talking
about it with nothing materializing (even if we have agreement on
the patch), I'd be able to start a venture capital firm.
Remember that whole function renaming thread?
In my experience, its not that uncommon in Open Source either for
actual discussions to emerge along with code. Before that its just
ideas floating in the air.
