-1 on this change for myself too. It's really annoying having those long
lines when working in a terminal.
And, if it is to be changed, why not fix "vim<600:" modeline, which doesn't
work?
As I mailed before, "vim<600" syntax is only understood in version of VIM
starting with 6.
It should be simply "vim:", and in the vim600 line should be the vim 6
specific things...
