Hey Guys,
Lets face it, the are plenty of IT managers out there who want to sound as
if they know what they're talking about, even if they don't. Dropping names
like 'Oracle' and 'IBM' and a few others into repoprts makes them look
solid. But it doen't mean that they are right.
Whe I first got the job I currently have (electronic document delivery
manager), the project was a start-up and right from the beginning I said
that we just had to go with PDF. Well, the director, being a bit of a
pseudo-academic wanted SGML. I was flogging a dead horse. Then we had a
presentation from a 'considered cutting edge at the time' company who were
touting for business and as part of their presentation, the said that SGML
was dead in the ater as far as doc delivery was concerned and PDF was the
future.
Since then my judgement was never questioned (though maybe it should have
been from time to time).
Just my 2c
George P
