The standard edition of websphere comes free with AS400 above V4R2M0 OS.
Also, ODBC to UDB2/400 is notoriously slow (many problems are caused
installing incorrect versions DLLs?). The native connection DRDA is supposed
to be faster. You can utilise this by installing DB2 connect for linux (not
sure if it costs cash). You will need to set up UDP/tcp ports on the 400
though......believe there is IBM documentation on it somewhere.

Well, i found connecting to DB2/400 with ODBC horrible in the matter of
performance. The guys from IBM said the best solution for the web would be
IBM WebSphere (maybe you can substitute this very expensive software with
Tomcat?) and JSP if you need to get data from AS/400.
