well,
it seems I was wrong on how to supply parameters to ibase_connect()
I did
ibase_conenct($host, $user, $passwd, "", "", "", $role)
and everything went wrong ... somehow
As the sixth parameter is the sql dialect using "" (that results to zero
in PHP if I am right) will selct an invalid sql dialect. But there's no
comlaining from InterBase ...
The fourth parameter (character set) can be "" as it defaults to something
(e.g. ISO8859_1). The fifth paramter should - as advised by InterBase docs -
not be used if $host is not "ALL" but a hostname / db-file path pair on
TCP/IP.
So ... when I use 3 instead of "" everything is fine ... roles work
and I am happy. Maybe this is of help for another newbie to InterBase (like
I
still am).
Cheers, Arne
