Sarah, I use the same setup you describe. I downloaded the Sybase DB server
for Linux and compile PHP4 or PHP3 with the Sybase option. The nice thing is
that almost all the sybase_ and mssql_ functions are interchangeable meaning
between Windows OS and Linux. It works great.

Subject: [PHP-DB] PHP on Linux connecting to MS SQL
Hi,
I've been having a lot of trouble finding appropriate documention on
connecting to databases in MS SQL from Linux, so that i'm able to use
the mssql set of functions in PHP.
I'm using RH Linux 6.2, PHP 4, and MS SQL 7.
If anyone has done this, or can point me to clear documentation on how
to do it, i'd be very greatful!
Thanks,
Sarah
