I'm using mySQL with a 2.5GB database on one dual pentium running linux, php
and apache. I get about 5,000 users per day (400,000 registered users), and
average 25 queries (selects/inserts/updates/deletes) per second. No problems
whatsoever, and the box and database have been up and running continuously for
about six months now. I don't think any database in the single GB range is
"huge". Big, maybe, but not huge, IMHO.
