Anyone used Merant Data Direct?

We just started looking at it to connect a Solaris/PHP box to a Win2K/MSSQL
7 box. The DB folks insist they need to have a ODBC client that can accept a
result variable rather than a dataset. Currently we can't do that with
Openlink. It seems that Merants Data Direct will do this as it's ODBC 3.52
compliant.
Anyone have experience with this?
