You are of course perfectly right. Well, almost:
$ egcc -v
Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-linux/egcs-2.91.66/specs
gcc version egcs-2.91.66 Debian GNU/Linux (egcs-1.1.2 release)
I can reproduce the problem when compiling Apache-1.3.[69] and
PHP-3.0.{9,12} with CC="egcc" on the Debian-slink box (one DeadRat
5.3 box was making trouble, too, with CC="egcs", but not
reproducably). All build-tools are from the original distribution.
So, this is a compiler bug obviously. Any hints if/where I should
report this?
I will close the error report.
