You're exactly right, and I'm an idiot. I should have read the error
message closer. It was -rpath generating the error, after changing
apxs, and not -shared:
gcc -shared -o libphp3.so ./mod_php3.o libmodphp3-so.a -L/usr/local/lib
-lgd -L/usr/lib -lttf -L/usr/local/lib/mysql -lmysqlclient
-L/usr/lib/pgsql -lpq -lz -lgdbm pcrelib/libpcre.a -lgd -lpam -lm -ldl
-lcrypt -lnsl -lresolv -Lpcrelib -lpcre -rpath /usr/lib -rpath
/usr/local/lib/mysql -rpath /usr/lib/pgsql
gcc: unrecognized option `-rpath'
gcc: unrecognized option `-rpath'
gcc: unrecognized option `-rpath'
/usr/lib: file not recognized: Is a directory
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
I'll try installing apache 1.3.9, I guess, and see if that doesn't fix
things up. However, since -rpath is specified in the php3 Makefile,
will I also need to change that, or will just upgrading apache take care
of that?
Thanks for the bump on the noggin,
