Note that this is not necessary anymore. Current CVS + Apache
1.3.x can be built with
$ ./configure \
--with-apache=../apache_1.3.x \
--with-informix \
<...>
$ make install
$ cd ../apache_1.3.x
$ ./configure \
--activate-module=src/modules/php4/libphp4.a \
<...>
$ make ...
--
