Hi Gurus !
I'm quite new to PHP, but what I've seen so far is really great.
In the past, I've developed distributed multi-tier applications
mainly on WinNT plattforms and I always used IIS/ASP, if there
was a need for a plain HTML interface for the app.
N-Tier programming on WinNT however relies heavily on COM/DCOM,
'cause all business logic operations are delegated to some
COM-Object that (usually) runs in a transaction context
(separating UI-stuff from logic and from persistance). As COM is
also available on Linux and I have already a large codebase of
DB-handling stuff written the "COM way", I'd really like to call
those objects from inside a PHP script. That would open a door
for linux boxes to be part of my distributed systems (I like
linux ! :-)) ).
Is there a way to call arbitrary functions in arbitrary dynamic
libs sitting in an arbitrary place on my hard disc ?
If not, is anybody out there working on something like that ?
I'd offer my help if that would speed things up.
Please, don't start a religous war about MS vs. Linux, I'm
really fed up with this. Serious programmers face serious
problems that need to be solved and my customers expect me to
use the best combination of OS's and tools and that sometimes
includes mixing Linux and WinNT, so please let's be constructive
;-)
Thanks !
Markus
