ID: 4929 Updated by: andi Reported By: whole@gmx.net Status: Closed Bug Type: Misbehaving function Assigned To: Comments: We improved eval (and include) so that you can return a value from them (they have their own scope). You can do: $retval = eval("return 5";); which is the same as: $retval = 5; So this is an incompatibility between version 3 and 4 but we did it in order to improve eval(). You will need to explicitly return from the function call eval() and can do it from within eval() anymore.
