You can go through ODBC, but if want to do anything serious you better be
ready for a serious wait.
I don't have much of a C/C++ background. But, it's a php latch into FMP
would help me immensely, so I'm trying to get an idea of the amount of
time, thus how much it would cost to hire someone to do the work. Since
I have done a little another option --in those <sarcasm>huge swaths of
free time</sarcasm>-- is to try and make it make myself with a little
help here and there from other people.
I do have a fair handle on the basic technical situation in communicating
with FMP and the why of Mac-only. The best way to communicate with FMP
is with Apple Events. It's a way of firing events from one process to
another and it's supported by almost every good ap for the Mac platform.
What's encoded in the apple events --to FMP-- isn't SQL but something
fairly similar. Essentially what's needed is a way to package the
commands and fire them across to another machine --presumably using the
AppleTalk protocol. One possibility is to create a mac-specific client
to be installed on the target machine and act as a liason between FMP and
PHP.
From what C/C++ programming I've done it sounds very doable...
