ODBC is a very new addition to FileMaker Pro and the code is very
inefficient. The performance just isn't acceptable for the work I do.

With OS X... OS X --as I understand it-- will still support Apple Events.
But, there's still now announced release date for an OS X version of
FileMaker. It may happen near the release date of OS X. It may be
delayed 6 to 12 months.

As I understand it, the problem with ODBC performance isn't the ODBC
drivers as such --at least with FileMaker-- but within FileMaker itself.
Also keep in mind that FMP is a completely closed proprietary tool, so
any improvements have to come from their development staff.

Hopefully you're right, but I've got a strong suspicion that acceptable
ODBC performance for FMP isn't going to be delivered with OS X. It's
going to take the vendor realizing they've got to fix their product.
FWIW...
