Hi,
I'm currently brainstorming a big application which
should be highly scalable.
The core function will be a class which sends E-Mails
to users; it is configureable to talk directly via
a SMTP mail server (e.g. with Manuel Lemos' SMTP
mail class) or to talk to a listserv which does the
part of sending mails.
As I've seen max_execution_time doesn't restrict the
maximum time a script runs, but only the maximum time
a script can use CPU time.
And there's my problem: it could be possible that
this application send thousands of mails (no, it's
not a spamming software) and I have to take care of
watching the CPU time this script uses for not to
fall into the max_execution_time.
One work around could be to set the max_execution_time
high enough, but that's not the way I want to do it
(except if there's no other solution).
How can I take care of the CPU time the script uses
and do some fall back mechanisms for not to fall into
max_execution_time ?
