I forgot to copy libltdl.a, it now configures correctly.
It was my fault, I didn't see there were such changes between 2.2.7 and 2.4.4.
BTW, is there a way to tell users we're using libmcrypt 2.4.4 via phpinfo() ?
It would be useful.

That's a problem, php didn't build with v.2.2.7, you can check the result here:
