the cgi sapi assumes that one has a php executeable for example in
cgi-bin and that the script to parse is added to the url of this
executeable so that it will be passed via PATH_INFO to the
executeable
but in Dericks last message he posted this sample script
#!/space/www/bin/php/php
<img src="?=PHPE9568F34-D428-11d2-A769-00AA001ACF42">
so he is using the '#!' (hash-bang) mechanism to tell the
unix kernel that the file is to be interpreted by
/space/www/bin/php/php insted of putting a php executeable
into some cgi-bin directory
here the REQUEST_URI is already set to the script path itself
and PATH_INFO is empty, so that the assumption in CGI sapi
is not valid ...
so cgi sapi should be able to detect whether PATH_INFO or
hash-bang method is used and set SG(request_info).request_uri
accordingly
