support for Oracle LDAP SDK (I have a strange problem, help!)

With what's in CVS now, you can use the Oracle LDAP SDK by doing
./configure --with-ldap=/usr/local/oracle/product/8.1.6
It must be 8.1.6 or newer after what I've been told. Everything
works except for one silly problem.
First time I do make, the linking at the end fails, I'm not sure
why. If I do make again it works! A make right after make clean
works too.
Any thoughts on what's going on?
I was hoping to get this into 4.0.2 so I hope someone can help
me. I may sort it out myself, but it's going to take awhile I'm
afraid
