So this fixes those conflicts with openldap and oracle?
I can close those bug reports now? (or you can)

I myself always do the process like this:
cvs up
./cvsclean
./buildconf
./configure
make
make install
And there hasn't ever been any problems with linking.

No idea. Maybe there are some old libraries which causes conflicts?
And when make clean is done all the libs are deleted.
I believe this is not a problem for those who don't use CVS?
